Alessandro Mirai, collaborator of terre di confine filmfestival, sent us some photos taken yesterday during the preparations for the Midnight Sun Film Festival in Sodankylä, Lapland.
More than a hundred films in four locations, including two circus tents, 24 hours a day, under the midnight sun; yesterday, 14 June 2017 was the opening day of the 32nd edition.
Created in 1986 by a group of Finnish filmmakers, including the Kaurismäki brothers, the festival takes place every year during the summer solstice in Sodankylä, Finland's Lapland, about 120km north of the Arctic Circle. Its main focus is the projection of movies in 35 and 70 mm celluloid; digital projection is used for a limited number of recent productions.
Alessandro Mirai participates as a volunteer and will send us more photos and news in the coming days.
