The director, a member of the Skolt Sámi ethnical group, tells the story of the friendship between her grand-grandmother Kaisa, great storyteller, and Swiss writer Robert Crottet, who in 1930 goes to Lapland, fascinated by the Arctic territories. Crottet publishes two books of stories by Kaisa and, at the outbreak of World War II, struggles to save the Skolt Sámi, forced by the Russians to abandon their territories.
